EXPENDABLE YOUTH 7 EP

After bursting on the scene with a killer self-released CD, Chicago's EXPENDABLE YOUTH are back with a brand new EP on Shaman Records. Like on their CD the three songs here are lengthy, multi-layered hardcore punk songs with melodic crust and metal influences. Mix one part MINOR THREAT with one part SCATHA and one part Master of Puppets-era METALLICA and you have an idea of the sound. Their lyrics are one of this band's strongest points and they convey stern messages against the Chicago Olympics in 2016, capital ism and the prison system (the later being a spoken word message with a musical accompanyment).
The copies we have are hand-numbered from the first pressing of 500 and come on half black / half clear vinyl.

BLACK SEPTEMBER / THOU – Split 7"

BLACK SEPTEMBER are from Chicago, and feature most f the members of the crust-metal band THINTHE HERD, however, with this new project they've really cranked it up a few notches! Toning downt he punk and turning the metal way up! There is some serious, straight up black metal / death metal going on here. The drums are fucking pummeling and relentless with constant rolling gallops, the guitar work is pretty technical and intricate, and the vocals are some of the most brutal female vocals I've heard in a long time! Their song on here is long, epic, and fucking awesome. Next up is THOU. I'd never heard them before but found myself really getting into their side of this split. Most of the time they play heavy-as-hell, doomy sludge metal, that reminds me a lot of 13. its' slow, but not so slow that it bores me, quite the opposite actually! Then they pick up the speed a20little and start galloping, and start to sound a lot like NUX VOMICA on the 'Something World' LP, right down to the vocals. This shit is really brutal, and I want to hear more from these guys. This split is killer, and both bands deliver the goods! (righteous)

MEINHOF is a raging anarcho punk band based in London, but with an international lineage (former members of OI POLLOI, SILNA WOLA and DISORDER). Musically they are insanely explosive thrash that is a lot like LOS CRUDOS or MIGRA VIOLENTA, but with po weful female vocals. Seventeen tracks of late 80's / o early 90's style crust from this band from
Mexico City. Their style is down-tuned and leans heavily on early grindcore
influences like TERRORIZER too, much like the more frenetically paced songs
of DEST ROY! To top it all off, they end the CD on a particularly brutal
rendition of the classic DOOM song "After the Bomb." The packaging is a very
innocative gate-fold sleeve and has no additional plastic other than the CD

DESARME Es Tu Error CD [Shaman Records and others)

DESARME are from Peru and play ripping fast thrash with some metalcore and crust influenc es. The lyrics are Spanish (of course) and the vocals are sung in a bellowing "in your face" style tradional to Spanish and Latinamerican punk. Musically they pull together quite a large mix of influences and this will have equal appeal to those who enjoy both old school hardcore, thrash metal heads, and modern crust-influenced types. This band is as good as anything coming out of Japan or Sweden, but sadly their geographic location means they won't get the recognition they deserve.
